Security & Privacy

Privacy as a foundation,
not an afterthought

Every layer of Privr is designed with security as the starting point. Mail data stays local by default, and sensitive features require explicit choices.

  • End-to-end encryption — Messages between Privr users are automatically encrypted using Ed25519 and X25519 cryptography. Key exchange happens over email itself — no external servers needed.
  • Encrypted vault — Passwords and tokens are securely stored in an encrypted vault with automatic memory clearing.
  • LLM privacy controls — AI assistance is off until configured. Cloud providers require mail-content consent, local-network endpoints require trust, and generated output stays advisory.
  • Encrypted local database — All cached emails are stored encrypted. No readable data on disk.
  • Tracker blocking — Detects and removes known tracking pixels and automatically cleans tracking URL parameters.
  • Link safety — Homograph attack detection and URL mismatch warnings before links are opened.
  • Dual content sanitization — Email content is filtered in two layers for maximum protection against malicious messages.
