What this policy covers
This policy covers the website at privr.email, the launch signup form, and messages you send to us. It also includes high-level privacy notes for app features described on this website. The Privr desktop app is designed to process email data locally on your Mac where possible.
In-app LLM features
Optional LLM assistance in the Privr desktop app is disabled until configured by the user. If you choose a cloud LLM provider such as OpenAI or Anthropic and enable mail-content access, selected message bodies or attachment text may be sent to that provider for the requested feature. If you use Ollama or LM Studio on another machine, mail content may be sent to that trusted local-network endpoint. Provider terms and privacy practices apply to those optional providers.
Privr does not receive your configured provider secrets through this website. In-app LLM secrets are stored in the app's encrypted vault. Decrypted E2EE content is not sent to cloud LLM providers; use with decrypted E2EE content is limited to explicitly enabled loopback local processing.
Personal data we process
- Signup data: email address, first name, last name, and subscription status.
- Contact data: your email address, message content, and any details you choose to send us.
- Technical data: IP address, browser type, device data, referrer, timestamps, security logs, and similar server log data.
- Preference data: the language choice stored in your browser when you switch languages.
Why we process it
- To send launch announcements and product updates when you have signed up for them.
- To respond to questions, support requests, and other messages.
- To operate, secure, maintain, and improve the website.
- To comply with legal obligations and protect our legitimate business interests.
We rely on consent for mailing list messages, legitimate interests for website operation and security, and legal obligations where applicable.
Processors and sharing
We do not sell personal data. We share data only where needed with service providers such as hosting, email delivery, mailing list, security, and technical providers. The signup form is processed through our mailing list provider at privr.email-provider.eu. We may also share data if required by law or to protect legal rights.
International transfers
Where service providers process data outside the European Economic Area, we use appropriate safeguards where required, such as adequacy decisions or standard contractual clauses.
Retention
We keep mailing list data until you unsubscribe or withdraw consent, unless a longer period is required for legal or security reasons. Contact messages are kept only as long as needed to handle the request and maintain business records. Server and security logs are retained for a limited period unless needed to investigate misuse or comply with legal obligations.
Your rights
Under the GDPR, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, export, or object to the processing of your personal data. Where processing is based on consent, you can withdraw that consent at any time. You can exercise these rights by contacting [email protected].
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection authority. In the Netherlands, this is the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect personal data. No website or transmission method is completely risk-free, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

We may update this policy when the website, services, or legal requirements change. The latest version will always be published on this page.
